All broadband connections require a router to act as the network  termination point for the broadband service. Some routers also require an internal modem when they connect using ADSL or VDSL (FTTC). Choosing the right router can be daunting with hundreds of makes, models and specifications.

For most home users the router can be relatively simple, however the bigger issue usually lies with the delivery of WiFi within the building. Whilst historically families may have a shared a single desktop PC, nowadays family homes require good coverage across much of the home as people access services via phones, tablets, games consoles and smart devices.
