Potted History:
It would appear that the Clachnacuddin Small Bore Rifle Club was formed in or by 1912.  We do not yet have many details of the early years of the club. All of the National membership information was kept in London and was destroyed during the Blitz in 1941.

Apart from a few early reports (and a trophy of 1912) most of our records - and the memory of our members - really starts around the time of the Second World War.  At this time the club shot in the Cameron Barracks near Raigmore.  In the 50's it moved to the Haugh, and in the 60's moved to our current base for indoor shooting.  We had a 50/100 yard outdoor range at Dochfour for some years.  More history available here.

In 2008 we affilated with Cawdor Rifle&Pistol Club.  This allows our members to shoot .22 at 50m and 100 yards.  We shoot .22 LR in our indoor clubhouse in Inverness, and outdoor at the Cawdor range.   The club accepts all members - provided they pass the checks imposed by the police firearms unit - our youngest junior is about 11 years of age, our oldest  wont tell us his age(!) and we have a significant number of female shooters - of all ages.

During the Winter Season the club meets Monday and Thursday evenings at our Club House with an approximate 1900 start.  During the Summer Season the club meets Monday evenings about 1900, and at Cawdor on Wednesdays about 1700.

The club can provide access to all the equipment that is needed to take up the sport - rifles, ammunition, shooting jackets, gloves etc, together with basic training.

We have 7 firing points in our range and can therefore accommodate a reasonable number of shooters in an evening.

The club is active in the local leagues as well as in national postal leagues.  Club members are encouraged to participate in such leagues.  A smaller number of members regularly travel to 50meter/100yard outdoor shoots throughout Scotland and compete in SSRA outdoor shoots.

There is an induction course run by the club for new-starts/beginners.  This is usually in September before the start of the winter season.  Before shooting in the club we require that you either have a valid current Firearms Certificate/Shotgun Certificate or that you complete a questionnaire that can be submitted to the Police Firearms Unit prior to you handling any weapons at the club.

For further membership information contact:  secretary@clach.scotnet.co.uk.  It would be appreciated if you would include your postal address and - if possible - a land-line telephone number on your first contact.
