In July 2010, the Welsh Assembly made £2,000,000 available to people of Wales to support the issue of broadband "not-spots" across the region.

A "not spot" is defined as location where a broadband service of 500kb/s or more cannot be delivered via standard ADSL phone line technology. BET technology is the ideal technical solution to this issue and funding of up to £1000 per user is sufficient to finance the deployment of BET on an individual user basis.

For users meeting the appropriate criteria, the order process is as follows:

1)Contact the Welsh Assembly using the link above and request a broadband funding pack.
2)Confirm eligibility by returning the appropriate paper-work to the Welsh Assembly.
3)Once eligibility is confirmed, you will receive a funding voucher which can be redeemed following the installation process.
4)Visit www.scotnet.co.uk/bet/register and complete the pre-registration form.
5)Once we have hit a target number of 15 users in any one exchange area, this information will be passed to Openreach who will, where possible enable the telephone exchange with BET technology.
6)Following the successful enablement of an exchange, we will contact all pre-registration users and invite them to place an order.
7)The installation cost for the service must be paid in full prior to the installation being completed.
8)Following successful installation, the installation cost can be reclaimed from the Welsh Assembly using the funding voucher provided.

The installation costs for the BET service is £1095 plus vat.

Following successful deployment of the BET technology, each end user would enter into a commercial contract with Scotnet. This would be based on the following charging model:

Business packages include domain management, static IP addressing, website hosting and e-mail management. Residential packages include broadband access and e-mail. A monthly VAT invoice is provided with all business packages. All prices exclude VAT.
